CAMARILLO, N.M. — Donald Trump’s longtime campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, is taking a more measured approach in describing the claims made by former campaign staffer Carmen Trabelsi against Hillary Clinton.
Trump’s camp did not respond to a request for comment from VICE News on Friday.
Lewandowski told reporters in Nevada on Friday that while he agrees with Trabelsohn’s accusations against Clinton, he is not going to back down from the charges.
“I think she is a liar,” Lewandowski said.
“I think there’s a whole lot of them.”
“I know she lied,” he added.
“It was not an innocent lie.
I’m not going away.
She is lying.”
Trabelso, who is now a registered Democrat, was fired by Trump’s team in April after she claimed she had been sexually assaulted by Trump.
Trump denied the claims, calling them false and making a series of disparaging comments about Trabelfs story.
Trabelson was fired after she sued for gender discrimination.
In a statement released to Vice News, Trabanks said she is “deeply disappointed” that the Trump campaign has yet to provide any details about the allegations against Trabelt.
Traberelsi filed a defamation lawsuit against the campaign last month, alleging that Trump had used her in a false light.
Trabaelsi said she did not want to be the scapegoat in the election, and that she had no intention of resigning.
“There was never any intent to ruin my life,” she said.
