In a move that could set the future of our future, the university has begun selling canvas on campus.
The new canvas will be available for $10 and comes with a three-year tuition waiver.
“Our canvas will provide students with the same comfort and conveniences of a canvas-bound room at home,” said Tufts Chancellor Michael Rothstein in a statement.
“By taking the time to create a canvas, we will be providing students with greater freedom to explore and engage in the artistic and creative process.”
The university has already received some requests for the canvas.
Tufts students have already begun painting on the canvas at the campus library, where a few students have even created a mural.
“It’s amazing how many students have taken to painting canvas, and I’m very excited about it,” said student Alex McNeill, who painted on the wall of the library.
“We are very lucky to have so many students with so much passion for art.
The fact that we have such a great space and space to create is really exciting for all of us.”
This new canvas comes as other major universities have begun selling their canvas for a discounted price.
The University of Wisconsin-Madison recently launched a similar program, with students receiving a five-day free canvas rental for three months.
