The Orange and Blue are not a team that is particularly fond of taking the field, but after a disastrous 4-1 loss to Georgia on Saturday, the team is taking a hard look at its future.
The Orange and Black lost their final four games of the season in 2015 before being eliminated from the ACC tournament by Louisville, Duke and North Carolina State, respectively.
The Orange also lost to Pittsburgh in the ACC title game before being shut out in the second round of the NCAA tournament by Wisconsin.
“We can’t take that loss and we can’t sit here and say that it wasn’t a good experience,” head coach Bobby Petrino said after Saturday’s game.
“We have to get better.”
The Orange were 0-2 in ACC play heading into Saturday’s loss.
The Blue Devils went 1-1, their worst start in ACC history.
After losing to Clemson in the NCAA championship game, the Orange lost at Syracuse and Georgia.
After the loss, the Blue Devils’ coach, Bobby Petrina, said he didn’t think the team could make the tournament, despite a win against Virginia Tech in the opener.
The Blue Devils are now 2-4 and have lost seven of their last eight ACC games.
The ACC Tournament begins on Friday.
