A teen who survived being hit by a car while driving with her brother is in intensive care.
Twyena Anderson was killed in a hit-and-run accident in 2015, after she and her brother, Jordan, had driven home from a baseball game in a pickup truck.
Jordan died of brain damage in 2016.
Twendyena’s parents, Jennifer Anderson and Mark Anderson, were on a trip to Disney World when the crash happened.
She was only 12 years old.
She has been in the intensive care unit since.
The couple says they’ve been in constant pain since the accident.
We’re just hoping that, in time, we can start to heal.
They have their own therapy sessions.
I don’t have the ability to get through these kinds of things, Jennifer said.
It’s a little bit scary.
It is a little scary.
Jennifer Anderson says they are not worried about getting out of the hospital.
They don’t feel the pressure of the situation and the fear of the outcome, she said.
They just want to get her back home, get her home and have a little time to relax.
We want to be able to go to Disney again, and they don’t want us to, said Jennifer Anderson.
But we have to get out of this.
We have to be there for her.
We have to do whatever it takes to get them home.
